Interesting or nice about this vacancy

Do you believe it is important that all children in the Netherlands have equal opportunities, and do you enjoy working with children? Then this vacancy is perfect for you! You will make a social contribution while simultaneously working on your own development. You will learn to manage a project and be given the space to develop your own talents. You will receive training in didactic and coaching skills. Furthermore, it is very beneficial for your CV and network, as you will collaborate with parties such as the municipality, businesses, and schools.

Tasks and duties

The Move Foundation pairs a group of students with a Group 7 or Group 8 class from a primary school. If you participate in a Move project, you share responsibility with the children for devising and executing a social project. The children's ideas and talents take center stage: together with the students, they give their neighborhood a boost over a period of 3 to 5 months. For example, they organize a games afternoon for the elderly, create a work of art in the neighborhood, or conduct an environmental campaign together with local residents. Afterwards, the children are incredibly proud of what they have accomplished based on their own talents and ideas!

Before the project begins, you will receive training on the project content and teaching methodology training, ensuring you are fully prepared to stand in front of the group. The teacher will, of course, be present in the classroom. In total, you will have seven meetings with the children: five lessons in the classroom, one field trip where the children learn about what it means to study, and naturally, a spectacular closing event where the children ceremoniously carry out or unveil their project in the neighborhood. During the project, you will be guided by a project coordinator from Stichting Move.

Skills and qualities

We are looking for students who enjoy helping children discover how they can change the world, who want to make a social contribution, who are strong communicators, and who can work well in a team. The student:

  • Is proactive.
  • Can work independently as well as collaborate.
  • Feels responsible for the project.
  • Can plan and organize.
  • Enjoys standing in front of the class and working with children.

Additional information

We are looking for students throughout the year who would enjoy leading a Move project! If you are interested, please do not hesitate to contact us without obligation. We are happy to answer all your questions! After all, you can also form a committee yourself with your friends or housemates!
Boris and Rob did a project with a class from a Dalton school; you can read a short article about their experience here .
