Stichting Toentje offers a sustainable platform to alleviate poverty through food production, education, innovation, and health promotion.
Toentje is a social enterprise that has been operating in the Oosterparkwijk district of Groningen since 2013. Toentje manages a large vegetable, fruit, and herb garden located between Struisvogelstraat and Oliemuldersweg. The proceeds go to the Stadse Voedselbank. In addition, Toentje is the driving force behind the neighborhood restaurant Bie de Buuf on Paradijsvogelstraat, where a three-course menu is prepared every Friday evening using fresh, local, seasonal produce.
Stichting Toentje is a volunteer organization. You meet people you might not otherwise meet in your own area. There is a lively atmosphere, always something to do. Whether in the garden or in/around Bie de Buuf. It is a social and warm team.
Tasks and duties
We regularly have odd jobs that we don't get around to due to our busy work in the gardens and the restaurant. Professional painting needs to be done, technical malfunctions need to be fixed, a stand for an (outdoor) sink needs to be built, etc., etc.
Skills and qualities
- Insight and experience in handyman work.
- Patient.
- Good communication skills.
Additional information
Jobs can be done in project form.
A minimum of 16 hours is required for a Participation Job.
