Tasks and duties
1.2 million people in the Netherlands live below the poverty line, and 135,000 people receive help from the Food Bank. There are nine Food Banks in Groningen. Together, they are active in providing food to the poorest in the province—currently approximately 2,300 families. All Food Banks in the province receive a portion of the food to distribute from the new Distribution Center (RDC) in Groningen. The RDC receives food from major food producers in the Netherlands and collects and picks up food from provincial food producers and supermarket chain distribution centers.
The donated food is processed and distributed to the 9 Food Banks exclusively with the help of volunteers. The RDC checks the quality and shelf life of the received food and ensures storage and distribution throughout the entire province. The food is distributed free of charge by the Food Banks to the poorest people in Groningen. This provides direct assistance to these people and also prevents the waste of good food.

We have a volunteer vacancy for a warehouse employee at the RDC in Groningen.
- You are available on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and/or Friday mornings. (days to be agreed upon)
- You are sociable and have a good sense of humor.
- You are in good physical condition and can handle warehouse work well.
- Together with your colleagues, you ensure a clean working environment.
Skills and qualities
As a warehouse employee, you count all incoming crates of food. You store the food in the warehouse, the cold storage, or the freezer, after which it is collected for the Food Banks using a distribution list. It is important that the food is collected safely and neatly and prepared on pallets.
