Are you handy and do you enjoy interacting with others? Do you love repairing broken items and chatting with all kinds of people? Then the Repair Workshop in Lewenborg might be for you! We already have a fun and diverse team of volunteers, but we are still looking for a volunteer who can help residents as a host/hostess, handle registrations, and is also a bit handy.
Tasks and duties
The Repair Workshop is open every Friday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at City Farm 't Boegbeeld. Residents of Lewenborg and surrounding neighborhoods can drop by with their broken appliances from home. Our volunteers then do their best to repair them. Repairs are free of charge for residents; only any material costs are charged.
As a host, you welcome visitors and engage in conversation with them. You check them in and try to determine the issue with the item. You are open to a chat and ensure that people leave on a positive note. Additionally, you answer the phone and respond to questions from residents. When it is quiet, you also help with the repairs yourself. Tools and workbenches are available in the workshop to repair the items brought in.
Skills and qualities
- You are socially strong in your interactions with other volunteers, clients of 't Boegbeeld, and residents.
- You enjoy engaging in conversation with others.
- You are friendly when answering questions over the phone.
- You have an interest in or passion for trying to repair things.
- You are meticulous.
- You are available on Friday afternoons from 13:00 to 16:00 (holidays are of course possible).
