Interesting or nice about this vacancy
Would you like to be involved with WIJ Groningen to further improve our support? And do you want to stand up for the interests of residents in your neighborhood or village? Then the WIJ Council might be just right for you.
About WIJ Groningen:
WIJ Groningen is an organization that offers support to all residents of the municipality of Groningen, from young to old. Our 10 WIJ locations are situated right in the neighborhoods and villages, where residents can drop by without an appointment with an idea, wish, question, or problem.
Together with over a thousand colleagues, volunteers, and interns, we help people in Groningen strengthen their self-reliance and participate in society. Whenever possible, with the help of family and friends, and as close to home as possible. We build on individual capabilities and continue to learn from each other every day.
What does the WIJ Council do?
The WIJ Council is the advisory council/client council of WIJ Groningen. It is a council for and by residents that contributes ideas and participates in discussions regarding the support provided by WIJ Groningen, based on the common interests of the residents.
What the WIJ Council does:
- Actively gathering feedback and experiences from residents
- The director and management of WIJ Groningen advise
- Contribute to projects and policy within WIJ Groningen
What does the WIJ Council advise on?
The WIJ Council is an important discussion partner for the organization. Through open dialogue and advice, residents can raise issues and bring improvements within our organization. For example, the WIJ Council advises WIJ Groningen on:
- The quality of our support
- How we handle privacy
- Accessibility and reception, like our Entrances (drop by without an appointment)
- How we inform residents
- Changes in the goals of the organization
The WIJ Council has the right to advise on certain organizational and policy matters. In addition, the council can provide advice upon request or raise topics itself.
Composition of the WIJ Council
The WIJ Council has room for 11 members, a chairperson, and a vice-chairperson. The council is supported by an administrative secretary.
We value a diverse composition. We are looking for members with different backgrounds and from different neighborhoods or villages. Experience in the social domain is welcome, as is experience with support from WIJ Groningen or a similar organization.
The WIJ Council operates with its own regulations and an annual work plan. That work plan lists seven topics. These are Wmo (Social Support Act), Basic Youth Care, Community Development & Prevention, and projects such as Diversity & Inclusion and the use of AI (artificial intelligence) at our locations where residents drop in without an appointment. Finally, the council also selects its own topics, such as gathering feedback from residents and shadowing residents during walk-in sessions.
Tasks and duties
- You attend the internal meeting every four weeks. You consult with the director every six weeks, together with the entire WIJ Council.
- Together, we create an open and safe atmosphere. Our guiding principle: everyone is given the opportunity to have their say.
- The WIJ Council is working on further professionalization. You prepare meetings thoroughly and assist with the implementation of the work plan.
- Each member is responsible for one or more topics. You monitor progress and report back to the rest of the council.
- You help make the WIJ Council visible and findable for residents.
Skills and qualities
- You have knowledge of or interest in developments in the social domain.
- You think and act from the perspective of residents.
- You can read and understand policy documents.
- You have a good command of the Dutch language.
- You communicate easily and pleasantly.
