Onderling Sterk is an advocacy association by and for people with an intellectual disability.
The organization has three branches, one in the city of Groningen and two in the municipality of Westerkwartier (Leek-Tolbert and Zuidhorn). At the branch, members meet on average 6 to 8 times a year under the guidance of a volunteer coach. During the branch evening, we do fun things together and discuss themes or topics that we find important or that we are struggling with. In this way, we become more independent and stand up together for what we believe in. Together we are stronger!
The association also has a support point at the Zorgbelang Groningen office. Alex is the coordinator there. To organize thematic meetings, coordinate the branches, handle the association's public relations, and handle all administrative tasks, Alex is looking for a volunteer coach/supervisor who is available for two to three hours per week. It is very enjoyable work, and we also frequently travel to our other locations in the region if necessary.
Tasks and duties
As a coach, you guide Alex with all common administrative matters. Additionally, you handle various tasks via the computer. Together, we ensure that the departments are supported, and we also represent the association's interests to politicians and wherever necessary. When there are elections, we also sit together at the polling station to conduct research. Naturally, we also work together to recruit new members and new donors for the association, and we are even trying to set up a new department. Will you join us?
Skills and qualities
The required experience we appreciate is knowing how to support someone with a disability; you are also expected to be proficient with computers. You can learn anything you don't know!
