Interesting or nice about this vacancy
Hockey Club Groningen was founded in 1926 and, with over 1,250 members, is one of the larger hockey clubs in the Northern Netherlands. We are a club with a friendly atmosphere and an open character. We believe it is important that everyone involved with the club (members, young and old, volunteers, parents) feels welcome. The clubhouse is a place where everyone comes together and where people enjoy having a chat. This makes it easy to meet new people, and you also contribute to the local community.
Tasks and duties
- Serving and settling the bill for coffee/tea and other beverages.
- Setting out lemonade for the teams.
- Tidying up and keeping the canteen clean.
- Kitchen duties, such as making sandwiches, frying, and lunches for the first teams.
In the long term, the duties can be expanded in consultation (for example, instructing parents during bar shifts and opening and closing the club/canteen).
Skills and qualities
For this position, it is important that you are customer-friendly and enjoy meeting new people. It is also important that you are flexible and able to work independently. Furthermore, you are:
- 25 years or older; retired seniors are also very welcome to apply.
- Flexible availability for 8 to 24 hours per week.
- An affinity for managing canteen staff is a plus but not a requirement.
Additional information
As a canteen volunteer, you work closely with the members of the bar committee. They are your direct point of contact and can help when needed. The club also has a number of bar managers (members or parents whose child is a member). Just like you, they are responsible for the day-to-day running of the canteen.
The activities mainly take place during the hockey season on weekends when matches are played. Sometimes there are also activities in the afternoon and evening. It would be fantastic for us if you could be deployed with some flexibility. Activities are limited during school holidays. There is a short winter break (December/January).
