Much more happens behind the scenes at the Hortus than just garden maintenance. The walls, pavilions, and buildings of our Chinese Ming Garden, the only one in Europe, require attention, maintenance, and development. Would you like to contribute to the preservation of this special place, with a particular focus on the Chinese Teahouse?
Tasks and duties
What to keep in mind:
- Making the Tea House sustainable.
- Restoration of wall windows and other architectural elements.
- Optimization of kitchen layout.
- Improving fire safety.
- Coordinating plans and maintaining contact with contractors.
- Exploring (and potentially applying for) monument status.
- You are not alone. You work together with the manager, the head gardener, and the architect, among others.
Skills and qualities
We are looking for someone who:
- can maintain an overview and get things moving.
- Works well with others and can connect different interests.
- Has experience with real estate, construction, management, or project coordination.
- Feels committed to the preservation of a unique and historic environment.
- You like to take the initiative, but naturally coordinate well with the team.
- You will be working at one of the most beautiful locations in the Northern Netherlands, become part of a dedicated team of employees and volunteers, and have the opportunity to develop yourself (further).
