Interesting or nice about this vacancy

Every Tuesday and Friday morning, there is a Parent & Child café in Haren. Here, parents/guardians with young children can meet each other. There is entertainment and space for children to play.

Parents can share their ideas, and the Parent & Child Café helps think, organize, and facilitate. Parents can walk in without an appointment, and light (parenting) support can be provided quickly if needed. WIJ Groningen often has the necessary expertise in-house for this.

As a volunteer, you get:

  • A pleasant workplace with nice colleagues
  • The possibility to bring your child along
  • Meaningful work where you can really make a difference for young children and their parents
  • Room for your own creativity and input
  • The opportunity to participate in courses and training free of charge via the WIJ Academie and Link050
  • A volunteer contract and compensation

Tasks and duties

The Parent & Child Café is looking for a welcoming volunteer for Tuesday mornings from 9:00 to 11:45. Of course, you are welcome to bring your own child along, so you can combine the volunteer work with caring for your child. You will be the first point of contact for parents and children visiting the café. Your duties include, among others:

  • Receiving from parents and their children (babies and toddlers)
  • Ensuring a warm welcome and a cozy atmosphere
  • Supervising activities such as reading aloud, arts and crafts, toddler gymnastics, sensory play, and mini disco
  • Ensuring a safe and hygienic environment
  • Listening to the wishes and needs of the parents and children
  • Contribute to the organization of new activities (your input is appreciated)

Skills and qualities

  • You enjoy working with babies, toddlers, and parents.
  • You are a good listener and empathetic
  • You are friendly and enthusiastic
  • You show initiative and enjoy contributing ideas for activities.
  • You are available on Tuesday and Friday mornings.
