Interesting or nice about this vacancy

Scouting de Jutters is run entirely by volunteers; there are no paid staff. By volunteering at De Jutters, you are therefore the driving force behind the association, making you extremely valuable.

At our scouting group, you can count on:

  • Friends for life;
  • Get to work on an active and challenging project every week;
  • Earn credits;
  • Endless fun, good times, and appreciation;
  • Working on your personal development in a competency-oriented way (Scouting Academy);
  • Earn qualifications.

As a new volunteer, you will join an enthusiastic team with leaders aged between 18 and 40.

Tasks and duties

Depending on the age group (called sections), you have a diverse range of tasks.
From the Beaver age group up to and including the Scout age group, there is "leadership". The leadership devises the program and carries it out.
With the Explorers, you act as a "guide." You steer and actively contribute ideas, but the group itself is responsible for the content and execution of the program.

You can get involved as a leader in the following sections:

  • The Beavers - 5-7 years on Saturdays.
  • The Cubs - 7-11 years old on Saturdays.
  • The Scouts - 11-15 years old on Saturdays.
  • The Explorers - 15-18 years old on Friday evenings.

As a section leader, you should consider the following tasks:

  • Devising programs as a team, tailored to the age group;
  • Preparing the weekly meetings (called gatherings);
  • Leading and executing the program as a team on Saturday (or Friday evening in the case of the Explorers);
  • Preparing and leading camps, ranging from a weekend to a week;
  • Possibly a position within the section such as team leader, treasurer, or equipment manager.

Apart from the list above, there is a place for everyone's qualities in scouting.

In addition to the weekly meetings, there are a number of camps throughout the year, including the Northern Pentecost Camp (NPK) and summer camp. NPK takes place during Pentecost, and summer camp falls in the first week of the summer holidays.

Furthermore, there are various group activities throughout the year. Examples include a New Year's opening or NL Doet.

Skills and qualities

As soon as you start working as a leader, you become part of a close-knit group of driven volunteers. That is priceless. The only thing we expect in return is three components:

  • You show enthusiasm with dedication and commitment;
  • You have an affinity with children;
  • Collaboration comes naturally to you.

Qualities that are also well-suited to scouting are:

  • Creativity;
  • Responsibility;
  • Love the outdoors;
  • Curiosity;
  • Organizational skills

Additional information

Certificate of Conduct (VOG). As a volunteer at De Jutters, you are required to provide a Certificate of Conduct. We will reimburse your expenses. A VOG is a statement confirming that your past behavior does not pose an obstacle to fulfilling a specific task or position.

In addition to the weekly meetings, there is a general members' meeting (called the Group Council) every eight weeks. Each section sends one or two delegates to the Group Council. The board is also present. The Group Council makes the most important decisions within the scouting group.

Every year, we jointly determine the budget for the following year. All sections within Scouting de Jutters receive their own budget. Examples include the sections, the board, equipment purchases, and various maintenance tasks. Consequently, you can claim reimbursement for expenses incurred during scouting activities; you do not have to pay these yourself. A mileage allowance may sometimes be available during group camps.
