Are you currently studying law and would you like to gain practical experience while helping people? Then come join our team at Steunpunt Huren Groningen. We are a small, friendly foundation dedicated to providing free and accessible (legal) advice to tenants. We also frequently act as mediators between tenants and landlords. Our office, located on the Damsterdiep, is situated in a former café, which contributes to the pleasant and informal atmosphere in the workplace. Additionally, we have monthly drinks and occasional team outings.

Tasks and duties
As a volunteer at Steunpunt Huren Groningen, there are various tasks you will perform. You will provide legal advice to tenants and, where necessary, mediate between tenants and landlords. This is done in various ways:
- At the office, you primarily answer questions via email and look for solutions. You often work together with the other volunteers to find the best possible solution for the tenant.
- Every Wednesday from 13:00 to 15:00, we have a walk-in consultation hour where you speak to people personally and provide them with advice.
- You can also conduct home visits, for example to identify a property's defects and perform a rent price check.
- Not only will you gain practical experience here, but you will also learn how to draft proper (legal) emails, deal with all kinds of different people, and negotiate with landlords. All of this is done in collaboration with fellow volunteers and the director of the foundation. Because you are in direct contact with tenants and landlords, you simultaneously gain practical experience.
Skills and qualities
We are looking for university or college law students in Groningen who are strongly interested in tenancy law and are available for at least 4 hours per week. Additionally, we consider it important that the candidate is intrinsically motivated to help others and can work both individually and as part of a team. Naturally, we consider it important that the candidate has a good command of the Dutch language, both spoken and written.
