Are you a committed and empathetic volunteer who wants to inform, advise, and support neighborhood residents? Then read on!

WIJ Lewenborg is there for everyone in Lewenborg and the surrounding neighborhoods. Residents can visit us here free of charge and without an appointment. For our Entree at Community Center Het Dok, we are looking for a volunteer who would like to support us every Thursday.

What are you going to do

As an Entrance Officer, you are part of the WIJ team in Lewenborg. You inform, advise, and support residents with their questions regarding topics such as housing, well-being, care, and finances. You offer a listening ear and are open to residents' ideas and initiatives. During an initial conversation, you try to clarify the request and explore possibilities together with the resident. You are computer literate (searching, registering, emailing) and can call agencies if necessary.

Your skills and qualities

  • You can empathize with the situation of neighborhood residents and have an open, approachable attitude.
  • You have good social and communication skills.
  • You can inform, give advice, and offer support.
  • You have some knowledge of laws and regulations, social services, and the social services map, or you wish to delve deeper into these subjects.
  • You are involved and follow what is happening in Lewenborg and the municipality of Groningen.
  • You are good with computers (looking up, registering, emailing).
  • It is an advantage if you bring knowledge and experience from similar work.
  • You have a command of the Dutch language (spoken and written).

What do you get in return?

  • Meaningful work where you can truly make a difference for someone else.
  • You work in an enthusiastic and committed team of professionals and other volunteers.
  • A volunteer contract and compensation.
  • The opportunity to participate in courses and training free of charge via the WIJ Academie and Link050.
