Interesting or nice about this vacancy

Victim Support Netherlands helps victims and surviving relatives following a criminal offense, traffic accident, disaster, or other unexpected and traumatic event. They can turn to us for emotional support, practical assistance (such as help with applying for compensation), and support during the criminal proceedings. Every year, we help hundreds of thousands of victims and surviving relatives in person or online. In addition, we help those around the victim with tips and advice. Victim Support Netherlands is a national organization with 25 locations. Together, we help victims move forward today.

Tasks and duties

After a traumatic event, a wide range of emotions come into play, and victims and surviving relatives have to deal with various agencies. On behalf of Slachtofferhulp Nederland, you have personal contact with victims. You assess what help they need and offer emotional and practical support. Sometimes one conversation is sufficient; sometimes someone requires more support. If necessary, you refer them for follow-up assistance.

Skills and qualities

What are you bringing?

  • You have a natural interest in your fellow man, a lot of patience, and are a good listener.
  • Thanks to your empathy, people feel seen and heard.
  • You have a practical mindset.
  • You have a good command of the Dutch language.
  • You possess digital skills; you can work with a computer and are willing to learn how to work with a new program.

Additional information

We believe it is important to be a good employer. Therefore, we ensure:

  • Good training, further education, and information about new insights.
  • A good insurance.
  • Reimbursement of expenses and travel costs.
  • A laptop, phone, and headphones on loan.
  • The possibility to work from home and at the office.

How much time do we ask of you?

To provide the best support, it is important that you are present during fixed parts of the day. In your first weeks, you will follow a training program of 8 to 12 hours per week at the Victim Support Academy.
