As a board member of Sedna Herstelacademie, you contribute to the further development of a place where people can regain balance after disruptive experiences.

Interesting or nice about this vacancy

The role of recovery academies within the field of care and welfare is clearly growing. They are seen as one of the answers to waiting lists and overburdening in mental healthcare and offer opportunities to provide answers to care needs other than a medical pathway. This is occurring in line with national and regional policy regarding innovation in care and welfare: the Integrated and Regional Care Agreement and Mental Health Ecosystems.

Sedna Recovery Academy offers a healthy, safe, and inspiring environment with activities in which people can continue to develop in connection with others during or after disruption.

Tasks and duties

The Board of Sedna Herstelacademie, as the ultimate responsible party, is responsible for developing and drafting multi-year policy, annual plans, project plans, and reports, maintaining and expanding the network, and participating in or contributing ideas to projects. The Board is therefore responsible for responsible growth and further organizational development. Sedna is a foundation employing four permanent staff members. In addition, people are hired on an occasional basis for the execution of various courses and other activities. Between 25 and 40 volunteers are active, organizing activities, acting as hosts, and performing support tasks.

We are looking for someone for the position of secretary. Once that is filled, we will also be looking for general board members. The board meets once a month, in the presence of two coordinators from the permanent team. The board creates the conditions under which the permanent team, together with volunteers, can realize the implementation.

Skills and qualities

You possess general managerial qualities, such as:

  • Awareness of role model function and social responsibility regarding the position of expertise by experience and recovery academies.
  • Creating conditions to promote and realize the vision and goals of Sedna Herstelacademie.
  • An eye and feel for internal and societal interests and forces, and seeking an appropriate path in this, with respect for these differences.
  • Transparent in thought and action.
  • Consistent in thought and action: saying what you do and doing what you say.
  • Able to reflect on yourself.
  • The will and motivation to collaborate with all internal and external parties to make Sedna Herstelacademie even better and stronger.

Specifically for Sedna Recovery Academy:

  • You have knowledge of and experience with disruption and recovery, either personally or through involvement with one or more people in such a situation.
  • You have a vision (or are capable of developing one) for innovation in society, within healthcare and welfare, and the surrounding field, such as incubators, community building, and social entrepreneurship.
  • You possess the organizational insight to contribute to thinking about the structuring of daily business operations, larger projects, and partnerships, also and especially from a multi-year perspective.

Additional information

Meetings are currently held on Monday mornings, approximately once a month. Twice a year, there is consultation with staff and volunteers regarding the day-to-day operations of the Recovery Academy. There are also separate meetings concerning the 'rollout' of the Multi-Year Plan 2027–2030.
