Interesting or nice about this vacancy

We offer a diverse team where a strong sense of mutual commitment has developed due to personal experience with autism. An added value of this work is that you can help others with the experience you have gained yourself. It provides a meaningful and satisfying sense of purpose. In addition, we offer interesting and diverse professional development opportunities. We also have a monthly meeting where we coordinate our activities and task allocation as a team. Important: words like "disorder" or "ASD"? We recognize, view, and experience autism as: a natural variation on the human spectrum.

Tasks and duties

Volunteers from the AIC Groningen (part of the NVA, the Dutch Autism Association) offer: peer support, advice/information, theme meetings, an Appointment Morning, an Auticafe; in short, an inspiring neurodiverse environment with the necessary recognition and understanding.

Skills and qualities

  • Familiar with autism (as a parent or partner, for example).
  • Being able to offer a listening ear, setting aside any personal private issues to help others.
  • To inform and advise; exchange of experience.
  • Can help organize activities.
  • Giving AIC Groningen online visibility via Facebook, Mailchimp, and updating our website (this is an old vacancy intended as an explanation: https://www.link050.nl/vrijwilligerswerk/vrijwilligersvacaturebank/14226/social-media-mailchimp-en-creatief-mdwer)
  • Preference is given to people with (young) children and/or a partner with autism, but this is not a requirement.
  • Available time is flexible, but at least twice a month for a few hours ranging from 2 to 4 hours, and sometimes more.

About Autisme Informatiecentrum Groningen
